Bubba Bear is one lucky dog.

She knows it, because her ‘humans’, Mark and Laurel Gerkman, live in Gold Beach on the Southern Oregon Coast.

By the way, Laurel Gerkman is a real estate Broker in Gold Beach who works with Karl Nettgen, as Team-Brokers at Century 21 Agate Realty, to provide their clients with the best service possible.

Bubba is a 14 year-old gentle spirit whose life is filled with healthy, fun activities, spectacular scenery, and a bounty of earthy, fascinating ‘smells’ any dog would envy.

Today was a great dog-day at the beach; low tides exposed many fascinating critters, and, after frolicking like a pup in the soft sand to fetch a few sticks, she quenched her salty thirst from a nearby creek gushing with fresh water. On the way home, The Gerkmans stopped by Woof’s Dog Bakery to treat Bubba to a cookie and a warm self-serve bath. Bow-Wow!

Throughout the year, not many days go by without the Gerkman pack heading out on an outdoor adventure. They are constantly discovering new places to explore, in their own backyard. The moderate climate constantly beckons them to take advantage of their surroundings—a pristine natural environment—an uncrowded paradise.

Oregon’s south coast area boasts five Wild & Scenic Rivers, several Oregon State Parks, access to miles of public beaches, and the Siskiyou National Forest—touted as the most biologically diverse, intact forest in the contiguous states hosting 2 ½ times the average number of plant species than other national forests.

Now that summer is here, the Gerkmans will float, slow and easy, on several paddle trips down the lower Illinois and Rogue rivers. Yes, Bubba gets to go too! She’s learned to sit calmly, even when distracted by wildlife and negotiating small rapids.

Gold Beach, Oregon is a great place for any nature enthusiast to purchase real estate. If you are looking for an escape from the stresses of modern life, consider the Oregon South Coast to find your sanctuary: waterfront, ocean or riverview, private, forested property, or perhaps a small retirement/vacation home. Call Karl Nettgen.
